Human blood

Blood may be defined as an opaque liquid which consist of corpuscles, which on standing for 24-48 hours, leaving a clearly yellowish or pinkish supernatant layer along with corpuscles. when the antihaemophilic factor(AHF) is removed from whole blood it is known as Modified whole blood.

  2. Heparin:
Heparin is known as natural anticoagulant which has main purpose for the coagulation of blood.
  1. Disodium Edetate:
This agent has work as a coagulation of blood. It is a chelating agent which is generally used for the coagulation.

Collection of blood

Blood is collected in a sterile container that contains anticoagulant solution, blood is mainly collected from median cubital vein ( in front of the elbow).
During the collection of blood, the bottle which containing anticoagulant solution is mixed well many times to ensure that there is no chance to formulate any fibrin clots, and also to ensure the complete blood collection.
In a single time, not more than of 420 ml of blood is taken from an individual at a single time. After the collection of blood the container should be closed tightly and put at lowest temperature between 4-6 ‘C .
The container are used for the collection of blood is made up of plastics and that is disposable.
Now a days there is plastic bags are using which are more flexible and easy to handle and carry easily.

Processing

There are many tests are performed on blood to check the presence of any disease .
For the testing of blood, 5 ml sample is taken separately and test are performed.
Disease like; hepatitis, syphilis, and ABO system along with Rh system.

Storage condition

The temperature 4-6 C is recommended for the storage of blood until for the use.
Sometimes leucocytes disintegrate in a few hours and platelets in a few days at the temperature of 4-6 C.
The blood should be stored at a proper manner according to the guidelines.
The container should be sterile free.
The container should not be contacted to environment after the collection of blood in it.

Uses

This type of product is used for the condition of sever blood loss, i.e. hemorrhage , burns, shock, vomiting and uncontrolled diarrhea.
The blood must be transfused after the confirmation of same blood group of donor and recipient.

Concentrated human plasma

This may be defined as the separated human red blood cells (RBCs) concentrated from whole human blood which is not less than 15.5 % of whole blood.
